We’re launching our first contest here at Stop The Search to support the International Day of Climate Action. Entering the contest is as simple as can be – we don’t want your address or phone number, we won’t call your house, and we don’t want any personal information from you – we just want you to commit to making a conscious effort to help prevent global warming.

How Do I Enter the Contest
Entering the contest is as simple as visiting www.StopTheSearch.com and clicking the ‘Ask Question’ link at the top right of the site. On the resulting page tell us how you plan to make a difference to help fight Global Warming – maybe you’re going to switch from throw-away drinks to refillable containers or perhaps you’re going to commit to taking the subway rather than driving at least one day a week. The choice is yours but please be realistic and make a determined effort to follow through with your pledge.
Oh, two other small things, in the Tags section of the form enter 350.org and fill out your email address since it is the only way we’ll be able to contact you (no, we won’t use it for any other reason – not even to ask you to sign up for a newsletter since we don’t have one yet).
What Can I Win
We’re giving away a great prize pack consisting of 2 Otter Bottles, an Organic Bamboo Utensil Set, and a copy of the New York Times Bestseller The Green Book. To win just enter 350.org in the tags line – that’s how we’re going to identify all the entries in the contest. You also need to leave your email address so that you can be contacted… we won’t use it for any other purpose other than to send out an email after the contest is done to let you know whether or not you won.
Extra Special Bonus Prize
We’ve got a second prize pack available to all people who post a question or answer on the Stop The Search site over the length of the contest as well. Just ask a question or answer somebody else’s question to help them out. Again, you’ll need to leave your email address (or sign up with openID) so that we can contact you. You don’t need to tag your entry with 350.org – anything appropriate to the topic will do.
The Fine Print
The contest is open as of October 15th, 12:01 am and closes on October 24th at noon. All posts made to StopTheSearch.com during that time and tagged with ‘350.org’ will be entered into a random draw that will be made on or before 5pm on the 24th of October 2009. All posts made to StopTheSearch.com during that time and no matter what their tag will be entered into a random draw for the Extra Special Bonus Prize that will be made on or before 5pm on the 24th of October 2009.
Multiple entries are allowed to a maximum of 1 per day (a maximum of 10 over the length of the contest).
Sometimes technical errors happen and we can’t be held responsible for that. The software we are using for the site is run by an outside company and is, in fact, still in BETA development so glitches may occur. That said, the software as proven to be quite dependable up until now so we know of no reason to expect errors to happen. Depending on the severity of the technical errors we may be forced to close the contest early or nullify the entire contest – in either case all entrants will be contacted to let them know of the issue (assuming that notification is possible).
